The first course is here!

I'm very happy to say that the first course from The Writers' Study will be Releasing Your Creativity.

This four week course is designed to motivate, inspire and get you writing on a regular basis, through a series of exercises, as well as essays, quotes, tips and lists, written by myself. Here is an example of what we will cover during the first week of the course:

  • Letting go of your internal editor
  • Giving yourself permission to make mistakes
  • Giving yourself permission to be lazy and fail occasionally
  • Learning to ignore negative people and the critics of this world
  • Learning to forget past mistakes and move forward
By joining the course, you will be given access to an exclusive Facebook group, where the literature and exercises will be posted. In the group, students will be able to correspond with other members; ask questions; share stories and inspire each other. Don't worry if you don't have a Facebook group as the literature will be emailed to you instead. However, by joining the group, you will have a support network that will enable you to link up with fellow creative people and move forward as a group rather than on your own.

The exercises and literature will be posted on the group every day from Monday to Friday. The exercises should ideally be completed on the day/evening they are posted, but you can use Saturday and Sunday to catch up if you need to. You are encouraged to share your work with others on the group, though this is not essential. You may decide to post some exercises and not others, and that is perfectly fine.

There will be lots of writing to do; mainly short bursts of ten minutes or so, to get your creativity pumping and your hand moving!! The idea is to make you feel better about yourself as a writer and a creative person, therefore there will be no critiquing of your work; no marks out of ten or negative reactions. Everything is designed to get you moving forward in a warm and safe environment. This is the most important aspect of the course and I will be there for every part of the it; answering questions, sharing personal experiences and giving tips and advice too.

Over the course of four weeks, you will get used to writing every work day, with the aim of continuing this stride when we are finished. So if this sounds like the course for you, just read on to find out how to enrol....

I have checked out many online and offline courses over the past months, and they all have great variations in price and structure. Some of these courses run into hundreds of pounds, which in today's climate makes them out of reach for many, many people (including myself). In that regard, I have decided to make this course available for the special price of just 50 pounds (sterling) for the whole four weeks. The only stipulation is that the money must be sent via PayPal and there are no refunds I'm afraid; even if you enrol and then decide not to take part in the course.

The first course will start on 9th February 2015 and enrolments are taking place now. So if you would like to join or have any questions, please contact me and I will send you an enrolment form. You can contact me at MMWriterGirl [at] Me [dot] com (email address has been spelled out to deter spammers!) You can also message me on Twitter: @MMWriterGirl or FaceBook at The Official Michelle Morgan Author Page. Failing all that, leave a comment for me here and I will email you back straight away.

Thanks and I hope to hear from you soon.

Future Plans

During 2015, more and more courses will be offered from The Writers' Study. Here is a list of just some of the things to look forward to, coming soon:

  • Releasing Creativity through Writing (an online, month-long workshop)
  • The Business of Being a Full-Time Writer (online)

In order to make the courses accessible to everyone, it is my aim to keep the prices as low as possible. There will be a special, introductory price for all adult courses as they are announced. Please keep coming back here for up-to-date news.

Welcome to The Writers' Study

Hello!!

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog. My name is Michelle Morgan and I am an author, based in the UK. I have worked as a full-time writer for several years now, and you can see my list of credentials here:

1995: 'Marilyn's Addresses,' (Smith Gryphon). A guidebook related to Marilyn Monroe locations around the world. It has now become a much sought-after collectors' item.

2007: ‘Marilyn Monroe: Private and Undisclosed,’ (Constable and Robinson). This book received a great deal of publicity including eight pages plus the cover in The Sunday Times magazine. It was also published in the USA by Carroll and Graf.

2012: ‘Marilyn Monroe: Private and Undisclosed Revised Edition.’ This book reached number 16 in the WH Smith chart, and since then has been published in the USA, Russia, Poland and Bulgaria. To publicise the book, I gave interviews to many newspapers, magazines and radio stations, and appeared on The Alan Titchmarsh show on ITV. I was also invited to give talks at the National Portrait Gallery and the Victoria & Albert museum. The talk at the NPG was so popular that they had to turn people away at the door, as there was no room left in the theatre.

2013: ‘The Mammoth Book of Hollywood Scandals.’ (Constable and Robinson). This book was also published by Running Press in the USA.

2013: ‘Wife Five’ (a play written with Steve Hayes). This book was published in the USA by BearManor Media.

2015: ‘The Mammoth Book of Madonna.’ This book will be published in April by Constable and Robinson/Little, Brown in the UK and Running Press in the USA.

2015: ‘Before Marilyn,’ (co-authored with Astrid Franse) will be released in July by The History Press. There are also plans to sell the rights around the world.

2015: ‘The Ice Cream Blonde’ – a biography about 1930’s film star Thelma Todd. This book will come out in October, published by Chicago Review Press.

2007-2014: For seven years I wrote a weekly column for my local newspaper, detailing my life as a wife, mother, daughter, and friend. I have also written for many magazines, and interviewed celebrities such as Olivia Newton John.

Over the years, many people have asked me how to become a published writer; how to be motivated and release creativity. In order to help as many people as I can, I have decided to offer my knowledge and help in a series of online and offline workshops, designed to inspire, motivate and help fellow creative people of all ages.

Please keep checking this page for more details of the courses I am offering, along with dates and prices. Until then, thank you for visiting!!

Warmly
Michelle
